Import duties, VAT and customs clearance fees
As the UK is no longer part of the European Union, on some orders it may be necessary for you to pay import duties and/or VAT. Whilst the EU and the UK reached an agreement on 'free trade' this only applies to products manufactured in the UK and EU, and some of our products are made in the USA and South Africa. Some of these are exempt from duties, but duty may be charged by your local customs agency before the delivery is made.
The prices you will pay will now not include VAT, so are now lower on the shop, and may be cheaper for some customers than before Brexit. Depending on your local regulations and the specific item, however, you may now be required to pay VAT (value added tax, or 'sales tax') to your local authorities through the delivery agent prior to delivery.
The delivery courier (for example DHL or FedEx) will act as the agent for the customs clearance process, and collect any VAT and duties on behalf of your local officials. There may be an additional fee raised by the courier for this clearance process which is payable in addition to the VAT and duties. This fee varies from country to country, however it is usually between €8 and €15.
Please ensure that before ordering you are aware of any fees which may be charged by the customs officials in your country, and any customs processes you have to complete.
Any such fees are not included in the price you pay to us, and you are responsible for paying these necessary fees, and completing any customs processes, to ensure the delivery of your parcel. Once your order is dispatched refunds will not be issued if you fail to complete the customs process to ensure the delivery of your parcel.
